Yvelines: Man escapes after being held captive during crypto heist

A violent home invasion in Jouy-en-Josas, Yvelines, has highlighted the growing trend of cryptocurrency-related crime in the Île-de-France region. Three men broke into a house late Monday night, targeting the owner for his digital currency holdings.

The intruders demanded the codes to the victim's cryptocurrency accounts, mistakenly believing he held assets worth around 6 million euros. However, their search yielded only about 3,000 euros, according to reports.

During the ordeal, the victim was subjected to brutal treatment. He was tied up, gagged, beaten, and even scarred before managing to escape. He then alerted the authorities.

By the time law enforcement arrived, the suspects had already fled the scene. An investigation has been launched into aggravated theft, extortion, and assault, with the Versailles brigade for combating banditry taking charge of the case. The perpetrators remain at large.
