Zacatecas Deploys Over 400 Security Personnel After Discovery of 10 Bodies

Zacatecas Governor David Monreal announced an intensified security operation across the state, deploying over 400 federal and state forces. This measure follows the grim discovery of 10 bodies in three different municipalities within the state.

The victims identified include Ignacio Castrejón Valdez, a former mayor of Sombrerete and a mining businessman, along with two officials from Fresnillo: Fidel Alvarado de la Torre and Jesús Gerardo Muñeron Hernandez, who was also a firefighter. Other identified victims were businessmen and a cattle producer.

With the objective of strengthening security actions after recent events, the operational reinforcement was carried out at the General Headquarters of the 11th Military Zone with the deployment of more than 400 elements from the Mexican Army, National Guard, and the Secretariat of Public Security of Zacatecas.

Governor Monreal stated that the operation, involving elements from the Mexican Army, National Guard, and the Zacatecas Public Security Secretariat, aims to bolster security actions. The deployed forces are part of the Regional Task Force of the 5th Military Region and the Territorial Reaction Force of the National Guard. The governor emphasized the ongoing coordination between institutions to guarantee peace and security for the people of Zacatecas.
