As Zagreb prepares to host the 2026 Clown Festival, the city is set to become a vibrant hub for both seasoned performers and an audience eager for a more profound theatrical experience. The festival's theme, 'expanding the comfort zone,' draws inspiration from the teachings of renowned clown and educator Avner Eisenberg. The core idea is that personal growth doesn't necessitate leaving our safe spaces entirely, but rather extending their boundaries. This philosophy will be explored through various workshops and performances, including a masterclass for women led by the celebrated Spanish clown Pepa Plana, focusing on improvisation and discovering individual comedic voices without fear of failure.

International artistry will be on full display, opening with Spanish artist Carlo Mô's performance 'hÔy,' which playfully manipulates perceptions of space, time, and everyday reality. The program also includes a lecture by historian Dr. John Towsen, delving into the rich and often overlooked history of clowning across cultures, in collaboration with the Marija Jurić Zagorka Library. The evening will culminate in a dynamic clown cabaret, showcasing a diverse range of global talents.

The festival will be poetically closed by Pepa Plana with 'A CADA PAS,' followed by Michel Zerphyi's musical monodrama 'BEDUTZED!,' which intimately questions the very essence of a clown's identity. The festival will be held at two locations in Zagreb: Triko Circus Studio in the old city and the Cultural Center Travno in Novi Zagreb.
