Zagreb cultural festival brings concerts, theater, and film to Sesvete and Stenjevec

Zagreb's vibrant cultural scene is set to expand into the Sesvete and Stenjevec neighborhoods with the third cycle of the 'Zagreb Neighborhoods of Culture' project. Running from September 4 to 6, the initiative promises a rich program of artistic events designed to engage residents and visitors alike.

The festival kicks off on Friday with a traditional march led by the Zagreb ZET Orchestra, signaling the start of the cultural festivities. The day's events also include the interactive Vita Min Show, suitable for all generations, and a screening of "Paulina P.'s Second Diary," a popular children's film based on Sanja Polak's novel about growing up and facing challenges.

Saturday's program focuses on community engagement and artistic expression. It begins with a public presentation of an art installation proposal for the former Sljeme factory site, inviting citizen input. This is followed by an outdoor comic strip workshop led by artist Agata Lučić and a children's play, "My Grandma's Memory Diary," presented by Teatar Puna kuća.

The weekend culminates with a captivating concert by the Zagreb Philharmonic, exploring the theme of "Dance in Classical Music." Under the baton of Maestro Ivan Josip Skender, the orchestra will perform masterpieces by composers such as Mozart, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky, celebrating dance as a universal language. Simultaneously, an audio-visual installation titled "Why, Oh Why, Must I Go to School?" by Ana Hušman and Ivan Marušić Klif will be displayed on the facade of Luka Elementary School.
