Zagreb isn't taking a vacation! The best reasons to stay in the city until the end of August

Zagreb is buzzing with activity this August, offering a vibrant alternative for residents who are staying in the city instead of taking a vacation. From open-air performances to film screenings and lively dance events, the Croatian capital provides a wealth of options to enjoy the summer evenings.

One highlight is the Green River Festival, which runs until September 27th along the Sava River. This event combines music, film screenings, and art workshops with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Festival organizers have created much of the space using recycled materials and warmly welcome pets, adding to its unique appeal. Attendees can also participate in a game of 'bela' on Sundays.

For dance enthusiasts, Plesnjak at Zrinjevac offers weekly workshops and concerts every Friday and Saturday until August 29th. Led by the Plesni Centar Zagreb by Nicolas, these events feature a variety of music genres and performances by local artists. Simultaneously, the Zagreb Classic series continues to draw crowds, while the historic Opatovina stage hosts the popular "Francekova teta" comedy as part of the Zagreb Histrion Summer theater festival until September 5th.
