ZDF satire show 'heute-show' begins summer break with special programming

The ZDF's popular satire program, "heute-show," is taking a summer break but will offer special programming during the hiatus. The regular show, hosted by Oliver Welke, will return on September 4th.

Fans can look forward to "heute-show extra" and "heute-show spezial" during the summer. The special "heute-show extra – Die unglaubliche Geschichte von Gianni Infantino" will air on July 17th, presenting a satirical look at the FIFA president. ZDF describes it as "half an hour full of revelations, surprises, and satirical shots into the top corner." Host Valerie Niehaus noted Infantino appears "like a figure who has simultaneously fallen out of a political satire and a management seminar."

Additionally, four "heute-show extra - Das Quiz" episodes will air starting July 17th. Hosted by Lutz van der Horst, these quizzes will feature politicians and "heute-show" celebrities answering quirky questions.
