Zelenskiy confirms drone strike on Russian refineries, announces new long-range drones

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Saturday that Ukrainian drones successfully struck an oil refinery in Russia's western Siberian Tyumen Region, a target located more than 2,000 km from Ukraine's border. He also revealed that Ukraine has developed new long-range drones with a flight capability exceeding 3,000 km.

"More than 2,000 km from our state border. This is effective work," Zelenskiy stated in his nightly video address, thanking the Ukrainian military's special operations for the strike. This action is part of a broader campaign by Ukraine's military, which has targeted Russian oil infrastructure for months to disrupt funding for the ongoing war.

Earlier, the governor of Tyumen Region, Alexander Moor, reported that Russian air defenses had repelled a drone attack on the refinery. Preliminary reports indicated no damage, and staff were evacuated. The Tyumen refinery is described as one of Russia's most modern, with a nominal capacity of approximately 8 million metric tons per year.

Zelenskiy emphasized the successful deployment of the modernized long-range drones, stating, "They can now reach targets at a distance of 3,000 km." He characterized these operations as "entirely justified responses to Russian strikes against our state," confirming that "Ukraine’s plan of long-range operations is being implemented."
