Zelenskyy Announces Government Reshuffle, Prime Minister to Take New Role

Ukraine is implementing a significant political and governmental overhaul, as announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This strategic shift aims to assign specific individuals to oversee priority foreign policy directions, ensuring they possess the experience to fulfill agreements made at the leadership level and meet the expectations of the Ukrainian people.

Yuliia Svyrydenko, who previously served as prime minister after succeeding Denys Shmyhal in July 2025, is set to transition to a new role. She will now lead efforts in cooperation with Ukraine's primary international partners. President Zelenskyy stated that this transition was discussed with Svyrydenko, and both agreed that implementing these changes necessitates an updated cabinet.

Ukraine is changing its political strategy. Each priority foreign policy direction will be overseen by a specific individual with extensive experience, capable of implementing agreements reached at the leaders' level and meeting the expectations of the Ukrainian people.

Further changes are anticipated within the leadership of Ukraine's law enforcement agencies, though President Zelenskyy has not yet disclosed the nature of these upcoming alterations. The last major government reshuffle occurred in January 2026, following a significant corruption scandal that involved close associates of the president, including former Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, in November 2025.
