Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is urging European nations to adopt legal measures that would allow for the confiscation of oil being transported by Russia's 'shadow fleet.' This call comes as Moscow uses the fleet to circumvent international sanctions on its oil exports.

Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for intercepting a Russian oil tanker in the English Channel, calling it an "important step against the Russian oil fleet." He emphasized that Russia's "arrogance, fueled by high oil and gas revenues," paved the way for the war, and that any action limiting these revenues would also limit Russia's capacity to wage war.
