Zelenskyy Discusses Possible Kyiv Visit Dates With Witkoff and Kushner

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has again raised the prospect of a Kyiv visit by U.S. presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The Ukrainian president said the two sides were now discussing dates for a trip that has not happened despite repeated requests from Kyiv.

“It is important that dialogue between the negotiating teams of the United States and Ukraine continues at all times, and now we are talking about finalizing the dates for the visit to Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said after the call, according to a post on X. He said the visit by representatives of President Donald Trump could help move peace efforts forward.

The possibility of a trip was discussed in July, with August considered as a potential time. The visit has yet to take place. Some media reports have linked the delay to increased Russian air attacks on Kyiv. Civilian flights in Ukraine remain suspended because of the war, meaning visitors must reach the capital by train or road.

Zelenskyy also briefed Witkoff and Kushner on battlefield conditions and recent air attacks by both sides against targets in their respective rear areas. “Our teams will remain in close contact to work on an agenda and the most suitable schedule for further communications,” he said.

The conversation followed a reported brief visit to Moscow by CIA Director John Ratcliffe, who allegedly proposed a meeting involving Trump, Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin has again rejected that format, which Kyiv has sought for months, unless it is used to sign a final peace agreement.
