Zelenskyy Saw Fedorov as Rival; Political Motives Behind Government Change, Says Ukrainian MP

Ukrainian lawmaker Oleksiy Honcharenko has offered his interpretation of the recent Ukrainian government reshuffle, suggesting political motives lie at its core. According to Honcharenko, a member of the "European Solidarity" party in the Verkhovna Rada, the decision to dismiss Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov was the catalyst for the entire cabinet's replacement.

"(Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelenskyy decided to dismiss Fedorov. In my opinion, that's precisely why he initiated the replacement of the entire government. He saw Fedorov as a potential political competitor," Honcharenko stated in an interview with Delfi.

This is not the first instance, Honcharenko noted, where Zelenskyy has removed an individual whose popularity was on the rise. The lawmaker's perspective frames the government changes not as a routine administrative adjustment, but as a strategic move to manage potential political challenges within the country's leadership.
