Zelenskyy says Ukrainian forces hit Russian oil facilities and drone launch site

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces struck Russian oil facilities, a site used to store and launch attack drones, and a target in the Black Sea. He described the attacks as a response to Russian strikes on Ukraine.

In a post on X, the Ukrainian president said an oil refinery in the Ryazan region had been hit. He added that Ukraine’s long-range capabilities targeted oil-processing facilities in the Perm region and Tatarstan, as well as a drone storage and launch site in the Kursk region.

The Ukrainian claims came as Russia continued strikes on Ukrainian ports and vessels, according to TASS, citing the Russian Defence Ministry. The agency reported that Russian drones hit the Mavka dry cargo vessel, which it said was carrying military equipment, at the port of Chernomorsk. It also reported strikes on a production and loading complex at the port of Izmail and a patrol boat escorting vessels carrying military cargo.

TASS said Russia had earlier reported strikes on two logistics centres in Ukraine’s Odesa region using Geran-4 seeker drones. It also reported that Russian drones hit a dry cargo vessel carrying military equipment supplied to Ukraine by Western countries in the Black Sea.

The exchanges coincided with renewed diplomatic activity. US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner held what CNN described as substantive talks with Ukrainian officials in Kyiv and pressed Kyiv and Moscow to resume negotiations. The discussions followed meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Witkoff said he was “confident that there’ll be a good resolution here.”
