Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with former U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday, marking Trump's 80th birthday. The conversation, which lasted about half an hour, included a discussion on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the path toward peace.

Zelenskyy extended birthday wishes to Trump and conveyed his hope for an end to Russia's war against Ukraine. The Ukrainian president shared details of the call on X, formerly Twitter, stating, "I just had a good conversation with the American president. I congratulated President Trump on his birthday, and we had a fairly detailed discussion about many important things – peace was among them, of course."

Dmytro Lytvyn, an advisor to Zelenskyy, confirmed the duration of the call. Zelenskyy also expressed his best wishes to Trump, particularly in his efforts to end the war. The two leaders agreed to speak further during the upcoming G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, scheduled from Monday to Wednesday.
