Zelenskyy Thanks Resigning UK PM Starmer: 'Always Welcome in Ukraine'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy extended his gratitude to Keir Starmer, who recently resigned as the United Kingdom's Prime Minister. Zelenskyy conveyed Ukraine's profound appreciation for Starmer's steadfast support and the collaborative decisions made during his tenure.

"Keir, you will always be welcome in Ukraine," Zelenskyy wrote on social media, thanking Starmer for his cooperation and the joint efforts that strengthened Europe and its defense. He emphasized that the United Kingdom stands as one of the world's most significant allies for Ukraine. "Here in Ukraine, we deeply value the United Kingdom, and every meeting and every conversation we have had has always been full of real substance," the Ukrainian leader stated.

According to the Kiel Institute, the UK ranks third globally in absolute terms for its contributions to Ukraine's war effort. This support encompasses defense, humanitarian aid, and financial assistance, totaling approximately 21.3 billion euros. Under Starmer's leadership, the UK has approved numerous aid packages, including a recent one valued at over 869 million euros, which will supply the Ukrainian army with 150,000 drones and more than 350 air defense missiles and radars by the end of the year.

Starmer, alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, consistently supported Zelenskyy. Notably, they acted as a counterbalance to demands from U.S. President Donald Trump, who urged Kyiv to accept Kremlin conditions for ending the war.
