Zeynep Sönmez to face Ann Li in Wimbledon opener

Turkish tennis player Zeynep Sönmez is set to compete in the main draw of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, where she will face Ann Li of the United States in her opening match. Sönmez, currently ranked 54th in the world, is scheduled to play against the 29th-ranked Li.

This is not the first encounter between Sönmez and Li. The Turkish player has a strong record against her American opponent, having won both of their previous matches at the Merida Open. Sönmez will be looking to leverage this past success as she steps onto the grass courts of Wimbledon.

Sönmez's performance in Grand Slam tournaments this season has been mixed. She reached the third round of the Australian Open but was eliminated in the first round of the French Open. Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the year, presents another opportunity for her to make a significant impact on the international stage.
