Zhonghe Police Deploy Mobile Weigh Stations to Target Large Vehicle Violations, Issuing Over 2,300 Fines This Year

Zhonghe Police in New Taipei City are intensifying efforts to curb traffic accidents caused by large vehicles. The crackdown targets key routes like Jingping Road, Zhongzheng Road, and Huanhe West Road, areas known for frequent large vehicle traffic. This year alone, police have issued over 2,300 fines to large vehicles. On a recent day, authorities deployed a mobile weigh station to intercept and inspect trucks for overloading, particularly along Huanhe West Road, a crucial artery connecting Yonghe and Banqiao districts.

Statistics reveal that violations of traffic regulations account for the highest number of fines, with obscured license plates being the second most common offense. Other violations include running red lights, overloading, speeding, improper lane usage, and drunk driving. The police emphasized the importance of weight management and adherence to road regulations to prevent road damage and serious accidents.

To enhance enforcement mobility, police utilized a high-mobility "mobile weigh station" at the intersection of Huanhe West Road Section 3 and Yonghe Road. This allows for dynamic weight checks of large vehicles, particularly those heading towards Qiaohe Road. Police stressed that this measure helps ensure drivers comply with weight limits and road laws, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and road deterioration.

Zhonghe Police also issued a safety advisory for motorists and pedestrians. They highlighted the significant "inner wheel difference" of large vehicles during turns and the extensive blind spots around the driver's cabin. The public is urged to maintain a safe distance, avoid driving alongside large vehicles, and never enter their blind spots to ensure personal safety.
