Zhubei's Xinyue Bay Revitalized: Old Lookout Becomes "Listen to the Sea Terrace"

Zhubei City has unveiled a significant transformation of its Xinyue Bay coastal area, highlighted by the debut of the "Listen to the Sea Terrace." The NT$20 million renovation project, spearheaded by the Zhubei City Office, revitalized the aging and long-unused observation deck into a prominent scenic spot.

Mayor Cheng Chao-fang described the "Listen to the Sea Terrace" as a key landmark for Zhubei's western district and a vital seaside attraction for the greater Hsinchu region. The project encompassed comprehensive improvements, including upgraded washing and shower facilities, enhanced landscape lighting, and new pedestrian pathways. The aim was to create a welcoming environment that draws visitors day and night.

It will be the most representative coastal scenic spot in western Zhubei and an important seaside tourist area in the greater Hsinchu region.

Previously, Xinyue Bay suffered from outdated infrastructure, including poor restroom facilities and damaged grounds, which detracted from large-scale events. The renovation addressed these issues, optimizing nighttime illumination and improving the parking area. The integration of YouBike stations and refined pedestrian and vehicle traffic flow are intended to make the bay a comfortable place for relaxation and enjoying the sea views at any time.

The "Listen to the Sea Terrace," designed with the concept of "the edge of the sea," offers visitors unobstructed views of the ocean, sunsets, and tidal changes. At night, it is illuminated to resemble a "glowing harp," becoming a striking nocturnal landscape. The project also includes improved privacy and ventilation for shower facilities and a "Moon Corridor" pathway illuminated by landscape lights, contributing to a distinct resort ambiance.
