Zhuchi Township Chief Term Ends; Retired Secretary Chiu Feng-ming to Run as Independent

Chiu Feng-ming, who recently retired as secretary of the Zhuchi Township Office, has announced his candidacy for township chief as an independent. With over 30 years of experience in public service, Chiu was persuaded by local residents to enter the race. He previously held positions as a clerk and specialist in the Chiayi County Government during the tenures of former County Magistrate Chang Hua-kwan and current Magistrate Weng Chang-liang. He also served in the Zhuchi Township Office across three different administrations. Chiu stated that he had promised supporters he would run if he received a "yes" from Buddha during a pilgrimage. He received the affirmative sign, along with a promise that any difficulties encountered during the campaign would be resolved. He is committed to fulfilling his promise and running as an independent. He expressed gratitude to four mentors, Chang Hua-kwan, Weng Chang-liang, former township chief Yu Chi-sen, and Wang Kun-hung, from whom he learned the spirit of service. Chiu believes Chiayi County is at a critical juncture, entering a "golden decade" of agricultural, industrial, and technological development, with high-tech industries moving towards the region. He emphasized that neighboring townships are advancing rapidly and Zhuchi cannot afford to be left behind. He hopes to use his accumulated experience to continue serving Zhuchi Township humbly and asks for the support of the township residents to become his "fifth mentor."
