Zhudong Riverside Park adds 800 muskmallows to create new spring flower viewing highlight

Zhudong Riverside Park, already a popular destination for its extensive cherry blossom trails, is set to bloom with a new addition. Local officials and community members recently planted 800 muskmallow saplings, aiming to create a vibrant spring spectacle.

Class members work hard every day. This time, we are contributing to public green beautification, hoping to leave a beautiful landscape for our fellow villagers and elevate Zhudong's leisure tourism.

The park, situated beneath the elevated Freeway No. 68, boasts approximately 2 kilometers of cherry blossom paths. With over 2,000 cherry trees, including varieties like Yoshino and Somei Yoshino, it transforms into a pink wonderland each February and March, drawing crowds from northern Taiwan.

Beyond the cherry blossoms, the park also features golden trumpet trees and garlic vine, offering seasonal beauty. The newly planted muskmallow, expected to flower from February to April, will add clusters of purple blossoms and a pleasant fragrance to the landscape. The initiative was led by the Zhudong Town Grain Production and Marketing Class No. 1, with its 60 members and local supporters contributing to the planting effort.

The riverside park's current beautiful appearance relies on years of planned planting and the meticulous care of many "cherry blossom dads and moms" and local groups who have made silent contributions.

Zhudong Town Mayor Guo Yuan-chang expressed gratitude to the volunteers, highlighting the park's development through years of planned cultivation and community care. He anticipates the muskmallow will take root and become a beautiful "back garden" for Zhudong, complementing the park's existing attractions and boosting local tourism.
