Zofia and Nikodem top baby name charts in Poland for early 2026

Zofia has emerged as the most popular name for baby girls in Poland during the first half of 2026, with 2,166 newborns receiving the name. The top three girl names also include Zuzanna (1,830) and Maja (1,801). Hanna saw a significant jump from fifth to fourth place, swapping positions with Laura.

Other popular names for girls in the top ten list include Oliwia, Pola, Julia, Alicja, and Antonina. Several of these names, such as Oliwia, Pola, and Antonina, have climbed in popularity compared to the second half of 2025.

For baby boys, Nikodem claimed the top spot with 2,665 registrations, followed closely by Antoni (2,560). Jan moved up to third place, while Leon dropped from third to fourth. Franciszek also rose in the rankings, securing the fifth position.

The Ministry of Digitization provided the data, which is available on the government website dane.gov.pl. The report also noted that the most frequently given middle names remain unchanged: Jan, Piotr, and Józef for boys, and Maria, Anna, and Zofia for girls.
