Zuqui excited for Copa Libertadores clash with Estudiantes

Fernando Zuqui, a midfielder for Universidad Católica, is feeling optimistic about the team's prospects in the Copa Libertadores. The club is set to face Estudiantes de La Plata in the tournament's round of 16, and Zuqui, who has fond memories of his time at Estudiantes, is eager to advance.

"Estudiantes is a place where I have beautiful memories; I won championships there," Zuqui stated. "Returning to that stadium will be beautiful, but the reality is I wear this jersey now and I'm excited to move on." He acknowledged Estudiantes as a strong opponent but stressed the importance of focusing on upcoming domestic matches to build momentum.

Zuqui, 34, also addressed the team's lack of new signings for the latter half of the season. He deferred to the club's management for decisions on recruitment, emphasizing his confidence in the current squad. "The club decides who comes and who goes, and they will analyze it," he said. "I am excited for what's ahead in all competitions. We have a great squad, it's very competitive, and we are doing well."

The midfielder is focused on the team becoming protagonists in upcoming matches. "A stage with important games where things are decided is starting. We have to be protagonists, and that's the path forward," he explained. Regarding their upcoming league match against La Serena, Zuqui noted, "We know their style of play; it will be difficult, like all matches in the national tournament. The goal is to keep winning and move closer to the top."
