About La Página
La Página was founded in 2009 by journalist Ciro Granados. It later became part of Jorge Hernández’s Grupo Órbita. State Media Monitor reported in 2026 that Grupo Órbita, including La Página, is administered by El Salvador’s state asset agency, CONAB.
RSF and Freedom House describe growing government pressure on independent Salvadoran media, but neither provides a dedicated accuracy rating for La Página. Its ownership history includes reported political and business links involving Jorge Hernández and former president Mauricio Funes, though some claims come from partisan reporting. The sample is dominated by official police, ministry, legislature, weather, and public-service updates, with little visible scrutiny of government actions. This supports a state-aligned classification, while the available evidence does not justify a low credibility rating.
How to read La Página
