122 Hoa Sen private-school students have new schools, while transfers to public schools await approval

A total of 122 students from Hoa Sen Secondary and High School’s Xa lộ Hà Nội campus have secured places at other private schools, but students seeking public-school transfers are still waiting for a decision.

Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Education and Training said it had worked with eligible private schools to receive Hoa Sen students. Those schools committed to helping affected families and introduced support and preferential policies. The department issued its statement on Sept. 7, 2026.

For 10th-grade students requesting public-school places, the department said it had advised the city government and the city admissions steering committee to consider approving the policy. Public schools would accept students who meet the required admissions conditions and criteria. The process, the department said, must remain serious, transparent and compliant with regulations.

A department official told Tuổi Trẻ that the students in question had taken the 2026 10th-grade entrance exam and scored at or above the admission threshold of the public high school they want to attend. The transfers still require approval from the city government and admissions steering committee.

Hoa Sen principal Lê Văn Hồng said the school had consulted parents and students. Nearly half of the almost 700 students at the second campus are expected to move to Hoa Sen’s remaining campuses, while more than half will transfer to other private schools. The department ordered the second campus, at Km11+300 on Hà Nội Highway in Tăng Nhơn Phú Ward, to end educational operations in late August. It said the campus had not submitted documents proving land or premises rights, or a compliant lease, and therefore had not met requirements for land, facilities and equipment. The department said it would continue coordinating with relevant agencies and put students’ educational interests first.
