125 years of faith celebrated in Nausori

More than 1,500 devotees convened in Sawani, Nausori, over the weekend to mark a significant milestone: the 125th anniversary of the Baba Ragho Vishnu Kuti. This site stands as one of Fiji's historic Sanatan Hindu religious landmarks.

The celebration honors the 125th anniversary of the arrival of Sant Shree Baba Ragho Dass Ji. He came to Fiji during the Girmit era and devoted his life to preserving and advancing Sanatan Dharma. His samadhi, or tomb, is preserved at the Kuti on Koroi Road, which continues to be a sacred space for worship and reflection.

Festivities commenced on Saturday evening with an official ceremony. The event was graced by the presence of Pio Tikoduadua, the Minister for Defence and Veterans Affairs. Following the ceremony, attendees were treated to a theatrical performance of Ram Leela by the Shree Satsang Ramayan Mandali of Lami.

Organizers stated that the anniversary celebration served not only as a tribute to the saint's enduring legacy but also as a potent reminder of the deep-rooted faith, vibrant culture, and cherished traditions that Baba Ragho Dass Ji helped establish in Fiji over a century ago.
