13-year-old kart racer hospitalized after serious accident; family requests prayers

Victoria Imberti, a 13-year-old kart racing pilot, remains hospitalized in Mendoza, Argentina, following a severe accident on Saturday. The incident occurred at the Guido Maineri Autodrome in Junín, where she sustained significant injuries and was rushed to the Hospital Perrupato.

Initially admitted to surgical care, Victoria's condition prompted her family to launch a public appeal for prayers. A message shared on her Instagram account described her as "stable" but in "intensive care," requesting a "chain of prayer" for her strength and recovery.

Her father, Néstor Imberti, provided a more optimistic update, stating that Victoria had shown significant improvement. He explained that after initial concerns and intubation at Hospital Perrupato, her transfer to Hospital Notti brought reassurance from the neurosurgeon. She has since been able to breathe on her own and moved to a regular room, even engaging in conversations and remembering events, with only minor scrapes remaining.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash, which happened around 6 p.m. The aim is to determine any technical or human factors that led to the accident. Police are working with the investigative unit and the San Martin Fiscal Office to reconstruct the event and assess potential responsibility among racetrack personnel.
