15,000 Evacuated Under New Wildfire Near Valencia

An out-of-control wildfire raging near the Spanish city of Valencia has forced the evacuation of around 15,000 people. The president of the Valencia region, Juanfran Perez Llorca, described the blaze as larger than firefighting capacity could handle, with a perimeter spanning approximately 21 kilometers.

Valencia, located on Spain's eastern coast, is the country's third-largest city. The current fire exacerbates an already critical wildfire situation in central Spain, west of the capital, Madrid. In that area, 60,000 people have been evacuated in recent days.

Further north, in southwestern France, wildfires continue to devastate the Landes and Gironde departments. Firefighters are battling to prevent the flames from reaching Bordeaux, the main city in Gironde. These French fires have already led to the evacuation of 220,000 people, highlighting a severe and widespread wildfire crisis across Europe.
