16-year-old Louis Lemke breaks Uwe Seeler's scoring record for Hamburger SV

Hamburger SV's 16-year-old Louis Lemke has shattered a long-standing record, becoming the youngest player to score a competitive goal in the club's history. Lemke achieved this milestone during the team's DFB-Pokal match against SC Verl, finding the net at the age of 16 years, ten months, and 16 days. This remarkable feat surpasses the record previously held by HSV icon Uwe Seeler, who was 17 years, nine months, and 10 days old when he scored his first competitive goal in 1954.

The young talent scored HSV's third goal in their 3-0 victory in Ostwestfalen. After receiving a pass from Nicolai Remberg, Lemke struck the ball firmly from the left flank into the far corner. He played a significant role in the match, remaining on the field until the 75th minute.

HSV coach Merlin Polzin praised Lemke's performance, noting his diligent work ethic and his evident joy for the game, especially considering his age. "He is a hardworking player and still has a great joy for playing football despite his age," Polzin stated after the game.

Lemke has already made his mark in the Bundesliga, having debuted last season. He made a brief appearance in Hamburg's away game against Freiburg on the 33rd matchday. With his 17th birthday approaching in October, Lemke is demonstrating considerable potential for the future of Hamburger SV.
