163 abducted Kwara residents reunited with families

Emotional scenes marked the reunion of 163 residents abducted from Kwara State's Woro community with their families. The victims returned to Kaiama Local Government Area after spending over two weeks in captivity and receiving medical care in Ilorin.

The abductees were escorted back by local leaders, including the Chairman of Kaiama LGA, Abubakar Danladi, and the Emir of Kaiama, Omar Shehu Muazu. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's Chief Press Secretary, MD Baniya, stated that the local government chairman personally ensured the victims' safe transport from Ilorin.

Danladi expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq for their intervention and support in the efforts that led to the abductees' freedom. He also acknowledged the significant advocacy and solidarity from the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, and the moral support from the Emir of Kaiama and the Kaiama Emirate Council.

The chairman highlighted the unity and collective efforts of the community as the foundation for this victory. The 163 victims were among those abducted on February 3 and regained their freedom following a coordinated security operation in the Kainji Lake National Park forest.
