20-year-old man rescued from Banqiao apartment fire, hospitalized after smoke inhalation

A fire erupted in a two-story residential building in Banqiao District, New Taipei City, around 7 a.m. on Sunday, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. Firefighters arrived at the scene and broke down the door to conduct a search and rescue operation.

During the rescue, a 20-year-old man identified by the surname Zheng was found trapped inside the building. He had inhaled a significant amount of smoke and was unconscious when found. Emergency medical personnel immediately transported him to Far Eastern Memorial Hospital for urgent treatment.

The fire was extinguished, and all residents were safely evacuated. Authorities have cordoned off the area, and the Banqiao Precinct police are managing traffic and ensuring public safety. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the fire investigation unit.

New Taipei City Fire Department urged residents to install smoke detectors in their homes. These devices can provide early warnings of fires, allowing for crucial extra time to escape and ensuring the safety of life and property.
