2026/27 Session: Lagos makes LASRRA number compulsory for school admission

Lagos State will make a Lagos State Residents Registration Agency, or LASRRA, number compulsory for admission and enrolment in every public and private school from the 2026/2027 academic session.

Schools must obtain and record each learner’s valid registration number beginning September 14, 2026. They must also inform parents and guardians about the requirement and advise families to register children who are not yet on the LASRRA system.

The policy, approved by Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner Tolani Alli-Balogun, will be implemented through the Office of Education Quality Assurance. The government says a comprehensive and verifiable learner database will improve record-keeping, identification, verification, tracking and evidence-based decisions in education.

OEQA Director-General Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa said his office would work with LASRRA and other agencies to establish procedures for generating and assigning unique learner PINs. Support for registration and verification will be offered to schools, parents, guardians and learners. Compliance will also become part of OEQA monitoring and quality-assurance activities.

The government directed schools to handle learner information confidentially and securely under applicable data-protection requirements. Ogunmuyiwa urged school proprietors and families to complete registration before the new academic year, stressing that the requirement is mandatory.
