2026 Taiwan Design Exhibition to feature 'Taoyuan Flow' theme

Taoyuan is set to host the 2026 Taiwan Design Exhibition, an event scheduled from September 24 to October 11. The exhibition, co-organized by the Taoyuan City Government, the Industrial Development Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the Taiwan Design Research Institute, will center around the theme "Taoyuan Flow TAOYUAN in FLOW."

This year's exhibition theme is 'Taoyuan Flow TAOYUAN in FLOW,' with core concepts of transportation flow, industrial circulation, and cultural convergence, symbolizing Taoyuan's role as Taiwan's gateway city connecting with the world.

The city government recently unveiled the exhibition's main visual and its theme character, "Flowmomo." The theme "Taoyuan Flow" encapsulates the city's essence through the concepts of transportation flow, industrial circulation, and cultural convergence. Taoyuan, known as the "Hometown of a Thousand Ponds," integrates its unique landscape of ponds with aviation logistics and a rich tapestry of diverse cultures, including Minnan, Hakka,眷村 (military dependents' villages), indigenous, and new immigrant communities.

The main visual, a collaborative effort between "akibo works" by Lee Ming-tao and "StudioPros" by Lee Yi-hsuan, uses a "flow trajectory" concept. It employs a fluid symbol language across five graphic systems representing landscape hydrology, industrial circulation, international channels, and cultural convergence. The color palette combines tech blue and creative pink, symbolizing the city's energy where smart technology meets diverse cultures.

"Flowmomo," the theme character, draws inspiration from the LALA Mountain peach and incorporates imagery of aircraft landing gear, reflecting Taoyuan's identity as an aviation gateway. The accompanying animated visual, directed by Kevin Cheng of "Nulls Design," uses movement and music to depict the convergence of people, events, and creative energy in Taoyuan, illustrating how design sparks urban creativity and makes "Taoyuan Flow" a continuous cultural phenomenon.
