2027: APC state chairmen meet in Lagos to strengthen grassroots support for Tinubu

State chairmen of Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have converged in Lagos, reaffirming their commitment to bolstering the party's grassroots structures in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The three-day gathering saw leaders from across the 36 states hosted by Lagos State APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.

Ojelabi urged party leaders to consolidate the APC's foundations at the local level and remain dedicated to the progressive principles that guided the party's inception. He framed the meeting as more than a social event, highlighting its role in celebrating shared history, reinforcing internal connections, and renewing collective purpose. "We are custodians of the party’s structures. We are builders of consensus. We are promoters of internal harmony. We are the bridge between our national leadership and millions of committed members across the wards and local governments of Nigeria," he stated.

The APC chairman emphasized that the party's strength stems from its leadership quality, vibrant grassroots networks, member discipline, and the enduring trust Nigerians place in its progressive philosophy. He stressed that their duty extends beyond election preparation to nurturing lasting institutions, mentoring new leaders, enhancing internal democracy, and maintaining public confidence.

Ojelabi also commended President Bola Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Agenda" for addressing national challenges and assured the party's national leadership of the state chairmen's continued support. He praised Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his administration's investments in infrastructure, transportation, education, healthcare, technology, and human capital development, which he said sustained the state's progressive legacy.
