2027 Hajj: Kwara fixes N5m initial deposit for intending pilgrims

Intending pilgrims from Kwara State for the 2027 Hajj will need to make an initial deposit of N5 million, according to the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. The board announced that the balance of the Hajj fare is expected to be paid by the end of November 2026.

The intending pilgrims are expected to make an initial deposit of N5m with their valid international passports, while the balance of the Hajj fare should be paid on or before the end of November 2026.

Jimoh Jumoke, the board's Press Secretary, issued a statement detailing the preparations. Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, the Executive Secretary, assured prospective pilgrims of a smooth and well-coordinated pilgrimage. He explained that the initial N5 million payment, along with a valid international passport, is required to secure a spot. Pilgrims are urged to make payments only through designated banks and channels, and to ensure all necessary documentation is submitted on time.

Abdulkadir also advised pilgrims to renew passports expiring before April 2027 to avoid any documentation issues. He highlighted improvements in the board's airlift arrangements, which have significantly increased the capacity per trip from 260 to approximately 560 pilgrims. This enhancement is expected to reduce the number of trips from about 15 to four, thereby shortening the airlift period and making the Hajj experience more efficient and convenient.

Pilgrims should ensure that their travel documents remain valid throughout the period required for the pilgrimage.

The board expressed gratitude for the support from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and the Chief Imam of Ilorin. Continued cooperation from staff, agents, and intending pilgrims is also requested as preparations advance.
