Sanwo-Olu installs new Lagos community monarch

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has formally recognized Ibrahim Saliu as the new Onise of Ise Kingdom in Ibeju-Lekki, presenting him with the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment. The government urged the newly installed monarch to prioritize reconciliation among royal family members and foster unity within the community during his reign.

The official presentation, conducted by Governor Sanwo-Olu's Special Adviser on Rural Development, Nurudeen Agbaje, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Kikelomo Bolarinwa, followed the death of the previous ruler, Ganiu Adegbesan. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including traditional rulers, royal family members, community leaders, religious figures, lawmakers, and local residents.

Agbaje emphasized the importance of peace, unity, and inclusive development as the cornerstones of Saliu's reign. He encouraged the new Onise to leverage his position and experience to enhance the welfare and development of Ise Kingdom's residents. The government views traditional rulers as vital partners in grassroots governance and development, and this installation signifies a commitment to strengthening these institutions. Bolarinwa expressed gratitude to the governor for approving the presentation and welcomed all attendees.
