2027: Kwara APC leaders dismiss Mustapha’s defection, back AbdulRazaq

Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have dismissed the defection of Senator Saliu Mustapha from the ruling party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The groups, including 51 ward chairmen from Kwara Central Senatorial District and stakeholders from Gambari Ward 1, declared their continued support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the APC's governorship candidate, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu.

We are not here because of politics. We are here because the dividends of democracy are now visible, measurable and touching the lives of ordinary Kwara people, especially the good people of the Central Senatorial District.

Addressing journalists in Ilorin, the state capital, the stakeholders passed votes of confidence in Governor AbdulRazaq. They cited visible progress in infrastructure, urban renewal, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment as reasons for their loyalty. Ibrahim Salah, Councillor for Gambari Ward 1, spoke on behalf of the groups, emphasizing that the "dividends of democracy are now visible, measurable and touching the lives of ordinary Kwara people."

We don’t have any reason whatsoever to leave the ruling party and the administration that has given so much to us as a people.

Salah highlighted the administration's achievements, including the completion of 113.57 kilometers of roads in Kwara Central and the impact of the Kwara State Social Investment Programme. He stated that the group had no reason to abandon the APC or withdraw support from the governor. The stakeholders pledged to support the APC and its candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
