2027: Makinde names ex-SSS DG Lawal Daura as running mate

Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), has selected Lawal Daura, the former Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.

His Presidential running mate is Alh. Lawal Musa Daura, the former Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS) between 2015 and 2018, whom he said was deliberately chosen to solve the security situation of the country.

Daura, who served as the head of the SSS between 2015 and 2018, was announced as Makinde’s vice-presidential candidate at the party's national convention in Bauchi. According to a statement from the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde deliberately chose the former intelligence chief to address the nation's growing security challenges.

The APM candidate formally accepted his nomination at the convention, emphasizing his commitment to collaborating with like-minded politicians for national development. Makinde also expressed his readiness to tackle poverty and enhance the living standards of Nigerians, attributing recent economic hardships to poorly implemented policies.
