2027: PDP uploads 70% of gov, assembly candidates

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reported uploading over 70% of its candidates for the 2027 governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections, signaling progress in its preparations for the upcoming polls. The party's National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, stated that earlier technical issues with the uploading portal were promptly resolved by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

For the uploading of our candidates, we have gone past 70 per cent because, as of my last communication with the National Organising Secretary, we had uploaded over 18 governorship candidates out of 28.

Mohammed assured that the uploading process is progressing smoothly, with over 18 governorship candidates out of 28 already submitted. He emphasized that the party leadership has deployed sufficient manpower to ensure a successful outing in 2027 and that internal processes are proceeding without major disruptions. However, a faction led by Tanimu Turaki (SAN) expressed a different perspective. The National Publicity Secretary for this bloc, Ini Ememobong, voiced hope that the judiciary would overturn the ongoing processes initiated by the Abdulrahman Mohammed- and Samuel Anyanwu-led PDP. Ememobong stressed confidence in the judicial system's ability to correct wrongs and restore fairness.
