2027: Vote your conscience, elect credible leaders, Doherty urges Lagos voters

Funsho Doherty, the governorship candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming 2027 Lagos State election, has appealed to voters to cast their ballots based on conscience and choose leaders capable of transforming the state. Speaking at the 40th Anniversary celebration of St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church in Surulere, Lagos, Doherty stressed that the election offers a critical opportunity for residents to shape Lagos's future through responsible choices.

Doherty noted that Lagos has been governed by a single political party for over 25 years, arguing that democracy flourishes with healthy competition and the emergence of alternative ideas. "It is time for Lagosians to evaluate all available options in the interest of the state," he added.

Doherty also called upon the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the integrity of the electoral process, emphasizing that transparent elections are fundamental to democracy. He pledged that an NDC-led government would prioritize residents' welfare by investing in people-oriented programs, creating economic opportunities, and restoring public confidence in governance. Key areas of focus would include modernizing healthcare, improving public transportation, strengthening security, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and expanding youth empowerment initiatives.

The credibility of any election depends on the integrity of the electoral process. Nigerians deserve elections where every vote counts and the will of the people is respected without compromise.
