2030 Central American and Caribbean Games without a host city

The host city for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games is currently undefined, creating uncertainty following the conclusion of the 2026 Santo Domingo Games. The traditional handover of the host city flag did not take place at the closing ceremony, leaving the next venue in a state of limbo.

Luis Mejía, president of Centro Caribe Sports, stated that while he received inquiries from Venezuela and Honduras regarding hosting the games, no definitive agreements were reached. This lack of a declared host city marks an unusual departure from the event's established protocol.

Venezuela has hosted the Central American and Caribbean Games twice before: in Caracas in 1959 (VIII edition) and Maracaibo in 1998 (XVIII edition). Honduras has never hosted the event. The absence of a decision leaves the future location of the 2026 games uncertain, with both nations having expressed potential interest.
