Dominican Republic is bicampeon of softball in the Central American Games

Dominican Republic has cemented its status as a softball powerhouse, clinching their second consecutive gold medal in men's softball at the Central American and Caribbean Games. The team triumphed over Venezuela with a decisive 5-1 victory in the final match, held at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. This victory adds to their previous gold medal won at San Salvador 2023, making them back-to-back champions.

The offensive charge was led by Elías Valerio, who proved to be the hero of the game. Valerio blasted two home runs, one solo and another driving in two runs, significantly contributing to the Dominican offense. He finished the game with three runs scored and four RBIs, showcasing his pivotal role in the team's success. Juan Presinal also bolstered the Dominican lineup with two hits and two runs scored.

For Venezuela, Ángel Adames managed a single and scored their lone run. Erwin Díaz and Alvi Paredes also contributed a hit each. The loss was attributed to Venezuelan starter Luis Colombo, who pitched 4.1 innings, giving up six hits and five earned runs, along with four walks and eight strikeouts.

This gold medal holds special significance for Dominican softball, marking their second consecutive championship in the Games. In San Salvador 2023, they defeated Mexico 8-3 for their first title. Three years later, the team once again reached the final, this time on home soil in Santo Domingo, and delivered a victory against Venezuela, the current world champions and second-ranked team in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).
