22-year-old graduate elected neighborhood head in Quang Ninh

In a remarkable display of civic engagement, 22-year-old Le Tien Hoang has been elected head of the Quỳnh Lâu neighborhood in Hiep Hoa ward, Quang Ninh province, securing an overwhelming 95% of the vote. Hoang, who recently graduated with honors in Land Management from Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment, chose to return to his hometown and take on a leadership role rather than pursue immediate career opportunities elsewhere.

Hoang's victory makes him the youngest among the 14 neighborhood heads in Hiep Hoa ward for the 2026-2031 term. His immediate focus is on tackling pressing local issues, including clearing clogged irrigation canals, managing waste, improving road infrastructure, and fostering greater participation from young residents in community activities. He believes that youth is a time for taking on responsibility and contributing to one's birthplace.

Having previously served as the Youth Union Secretary for Quỳnh Lâu neighborhood, Hoang gained valuable experience and a deeper understanding of the community's challenges. This background, coupled with his academic achievements, provided him with the confidence to run for the neighborhood head position. He views the significant vote of confidence as a profound responsibility, entrusted by the very people who watched him grow up.

Hoang acknowledges the demanding nature of the role, which requires constant interaction with residents, understanding household situations, communicating government policies, and resolving local disputes. From environmental sanitation and public order to community conflicts, the neighborhood head is expected to be actively involved. For someone so young, this presents a significant challenge, but Hoang is determined to prioritize immediate, practical solutions for the neighborhood's betterment.
