23-member EU delegation to call on PM Shah on Tuesday

A delegation of 23 European Union ambassadors and deputy heads of mission is scheduled to meet with Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Tuesday. This visit marks the second time Prime Minister Shah has met with foreign diplomats since taking office on March 27, following an earlier joint meeting with 17 ambassadors on April 8. The EU delegation is in Nepal for its annual gathering and seeks to engage with the new government.

The primary objectives of the visit include introducing the delegation to Prime Minister Shah, reinforcing the European Union's relationship with Nepal, and identifying potential areas for future cooperation. The delegation is also set to meet with other key figures, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, and the Minister of Education, Science and Technology. Discussions will extend to private sector leaders, civil society representatives, and youth leaders.

EU Ambassador Véronique Lorenzo emphasized the EU's commitment to Nepal, stating, "We are here to congratulate the new government, reaffirm our support for Nepal’s development priorities, and explore new avenues for cooperation, from trade and investment to climate action and multilateral issues." The EU highlighted its role as a significant partner in Nepal's economic growth, democratic governance, education, and sustainable development.
