26-year-old dies after losing control of motorcycle during wheelie in Cerro neighborhood

A tragic accident in Montevideo's Cerro neighborhood has claimed the life of a 26-year-old man. The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon when the motorcyclist reportedly lost control of his bike while performing a "wheelie," a maneuver where the front wheel is lifted off the ground.

According to initial reports and surveillance footage, the motorcycle was traveling with two occupants when the driver executed the dangerous stunt. This action led to a loss of control, causing both the rider and his 17-year-old passenger to fall onto the pavement.

Emergency medical services were called to the scene, where they confirmed the death of the 26-year-old driver. The 17-year-old passenger received medical attention. Police are continuing their investigation, examining camera footage from both the Ministry of the Interior and private sources, and interviewing witnesses. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed.
