27-year-old man arrested for defiling teenager in Ondo

Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Solomon Onaola, in connection with the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area.

The arrest followed a report filed at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station on August 2, 2026. The victim, who worked as a domestic help, had reportedly been leaving her guardian's home without permission. When questioned, she allegedly revealed that Onaola had been taking her to his late mother's residence and engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with her.

The case was transferred to the Gender Based Offences Unit for a thorough investigation. Police operatives apprehended the suspect based on the preliminary findings. The victim has been placed under appropriate care, and necessary procedures for alleged sexual offenses against minors are being followed.

Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed the Gender Based Offences Unit to conduct a professional investigation to establish the facts and ensure justice. The command reiterated its commitment to protecting children and vulnerable individuals from sexual exploitation and abuse, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspected cases.

Preliminary investigation revealed that on 2nd August 2026, the guardian of the victim reported at the police station that the 15-year-old girl, who was working as a domestic help in her household, had on several occasions left home without permission. According to the report, when the girl was questioned about where she usually went whenever she left home, she allegedly disclosed that the suspect, Solomon Onaola, had been taking her to his late mother’s residence in Omifon, where he allegedly engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
