Police announce shooting exercise in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has issued a public announcement regarding a scheduled shooting range exercise. The exercise will take place over two days, from Wednesday, August 12, to Thursday, August 13, 2026, daily between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., at the Gombe Military Shooting Range located in Liji.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the exercise is a routine activity for police personnel. The command urged residents and commuters in the vicinity of the range not to be alarmed by the sound of gunshots. They were also advised to refrain from unnecessary movement around the designated area during the specified times to ensure their safety.

The Gombe State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that a routine range exercise will be conducted by its personnel from Wednesday, 12th August to Thursday, 13th August, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily, at the Gombe Military Shooting Range, Liji.

Furthermore, the public was cautioned against trespassing into the range area. Parents and guardians were specifically asked to ensure their children and wards stay clear of the shooting range. The police assured the public that these measures are necessary for safety and security, and cooperation is appreciated as they continue efforts to maintain peace across Gombe State.
