32 kilos of marijuana seized in parcel bound for Barranquilla

Authorities in Colombia have intercepted a significant drug shipment, seizing 32 kilograms of marijuana concealed within a parcel bound for the city of Barranquilla. The discovery was made by units from the Atlántico Police Department during a traffic control operation on the Vía Oriental, near the municipality of Sabanagrande.

The operation involved the inspection of a public transport truck. During the search, police identified a package with a shipping guide indicating Barranquilla as its final destination. Upon opening the box, officers found 50 rectangular packages wrapped in transparent plastic, containing a green, plant-like substance consistent with marijuana.

The seized marijuana has been handed over to the Fiscalía General de la Nación (Attorney General's Office), which will lead the investigation. The objective is to identify the individuals responsible for sending the drugs and determine who was intended to receive the cargo in Barranquilla.

While no arrests were made at the scene, police are pursuing leads to uncover the network behind this drug trafficking operation. Colonel Pablo Aníbal Bueno Mendoza, the acting commander of the Atlántico Police Department, stated that this seizure is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking on the department's roads. Authorities believe this action will prevent thousands of doses of marijuana from reaching the illegal market and disrupt the operations of drug trafficking organizations that utilize transport companies to move illicit substances across the country.
