33 abducted Zamfara passengers regain freedom

Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully rescued 33 passengers who were abducted by terrorists in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The swift operation on Saturday followed specific intelligence regarding the abduction of commuters traveling through the Magazu area.

Acting promptly, the troops mobilised to the location and made contact with the terrorists, who were already moving the abducted passengers to an unknown destination.

The rescue mission involved troops from Sector 2, working in conjunction with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force in Tsafe. Upon receiving information about the abduction, the troops mobilized immediately and intercepted the terrorists who were moving the victims to an undisclosed location. A confrontation ensued, during which the troops engaged the terrorists with effective fire, compelling them to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bushes.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for JTF North-West, announced on Sunday that all 33 abducted individuals were secured and rescued without any casualties. He stated that the troops are now engaged in tracking the fleeing terrorists to ensure their apprehension. Danja reiterated the command's commitment to protecting innocent citizens, thwarting terrorist activities, and securing major transportation routes across the North-West region.
