Police probe death of Law School Student in Lagos hostel

Lagos State Police are investigating the death of Alayande Faith Ajoke, a 23-year-old student at the Nigerian Law School. She was found unresponsive in her hostel room on Victoria Island early Friday morning, August 7, 2026.

The discovery was made around 4:30 a.m. by her roommate, Ojo Abisoye Tinuola, who alerted the Chief Matron, Mrs. Igbokwe Juliana. The matron arrived at the scene shortly after and found the student on the ground within the hostel premises. Initial observations at the scene suggest the possibility that the student fell from the rooftop of the four-story building.

Detectives from the Victoria Island Police Division visited the scene to document and photograph the area. Authorities reported that two notes, allegedly addressed to the deceased's stepfather and roommate, may have been left behind. The student's body was transported to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy as the investigation into the circumstances of her death continues.
