419 Students Begin Orientation at Integrated Rural School in Deli Serdang, Aiming to Cultivate a Golden Generation

A total of 419 students have officially commenced their orientation at the Integrated Rural School (SRT) 1 Deli Serdang in North Sumatra, marking the start of their academic year and boarding life. This initiative aims to provide enhanced educational opportunities for children from less fortunate families.

Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan expressed full support for the school, calling it a strategic move to improve access to education for underprivileged children. The local government has not only provided land for the school's construction but has also actively engaged with parents to encourage their children's enrollment. "Our hope is that the Rural School becomes a way to break the chain of poverty and educational backwardness," Tambunan stated, emphasizing the students' potential to become "golden generations" for Indonesia, particularly in Deli Serdang.

The boarding facilities are highlighted as crucial spaces for character development. The Regent also pledged support for housing renovation programs for eligible families of students from the lowest income deciles.

Leni Lasmaria, head of SRT 1 Deli Serdang, explained that the school has evolved from a junior high program in Medan to an integrated facility serving elementary, junior high, and high school levels. All students will transition to the Hamparan Perak campus. She assured that the students are the top priority, entrusted to educators for guidance, education, and protection. The curriculum aligns with national standards, and the school promotes an environment free from bullying, intolerance, and violence, with no age limits for admission.
