69-year-old takes baccalaureate exam in Romania, inspires younger generations

A 69-year-old man from Botoșani, Romania, has taken the baccalaureate exam, potentially making him the oldest candidate ever to sit for the national assessment. The man successfully completed two of the required exams, Romanian language and mathematics, during the autumn session.

I have not encountered a person who at this age takes the baccalaureate exam. He only took two exams. He said he would take the third exam next year, to have time to prepare.

Education officials have lauded the man's initiative, with Bogdan Suruciuc, the general inspector of the County School Inspectorate (IȘJ) Botoșani, calling it a "signal for the young generation." Suruciuc emphasized that the diploma is valuable at any age and that the man's determination serves as a powerful example.

The baccalaureate exam is a crucial step for students in Romania, typically taken at the end of high school. The results for the autumn session are expected soon, with provisions for appeals and final publications.
